Is an intruder alarm system essential for my business?

Is an intruder alarm system essential for my business?

While an intruder alarm system may not be a legal requirement for your business, there’s no better deterrent against crime than a loud, ear-piercing noise that alerts everyone within a mile’s radius that something untoward is happening on your premises.

And as a business proposition, the return on investment of an alarm system can be immeasurable; think of all the valuables you keep on your premises that could be targeted by thieves, and then think about all the thieves who’ll not even bother to take you on simply because you have an alarm. Indeed, an intruder alarm system is a deterrent against crime both before a crime takes place and during the act.

Criminals see a sophisticated alarm system and they think twice before targeting you. And should they choose to do so, then chances are they will get cold feet as soon as that alarm is triggered. They will stop what they are doing and run.

Best of all, a bell-only alarm system will only cost £200-£600, including installation fees. Or, a more sophisticated monitored alarm system will only cost you £400-800 (these prices are based on our experience in the market). Servicing and maintenance charges will only cost a few hundred pounds a year too, so an alarm system really needn’t cost a fortune. There are also wireless alarm systems available, and these tend to have lower setup costs.

So, we’d say that an intruder alarm system is definitely essential and worthwhile for your business, no matter who you are or what you do.

Before you go out looking for a contractor though, there are some things to bear in mind.

First of all, you should be looking for an alarm supplier who you can work with long-term, because these systems do need maintenance. Also if you are looking to have a monitored alarm system installed, your supplier should be able to provide additional services.

Second of all, your supplier should have all relevant qualifications to install your system. We are NICEIC and IPAF approved contractors for example. Lastly, you should get quotes from at least three contractors, so you get a good idea of how much your system will cost overall.
