3 Top Tips to Choosing the Right Electrician

3 Top Tips to Choosing the Right Electrician

If you’ve started your search for a reliable and experienced electrician you have most likely begun looking through trade ads and searching online. However, you may be slightly concerned as to the quality of the electrician that you call.

Below we are offering 3 top tips on how to ensure that you choose the right electrician;

1. Qualifications

It’s highly important that the electrician you choose is licenced and registered to ensure that they carry out your electrical work to the correct standards.

One qualification in particular that you should look out for is NICEIC. This will ensure that your electrician has been professionally assessed to ensure that their work meets all industry standards.

2. Insurance

All good quality electricians should have sufficient public liability insurance which will cover any unforeseen accidents that may happen whilst the job is underway.  Working with an electrician without insurance would mean that you were taking a substantial risk especially if they are undergoing a large electrical installation. Your electrician must act in accordance with the Building Regulations and legal requirements, ‘Electricity at Work Regulations 1989′. The British Standard BS7671 must be met with any electrical work that is carried out within your home or office.

3. Experience

When selecting your electrician you should take some time to find out their background and request for any evidence of past jobs that they have completed within your local area. This will help to reassure you that they have sufficient experience doing the type of work that you require them to carry out. A reliable and trustworthy electrician will be happy to inform you of their experience and will appreciate your concerns.

    Great tips, but finding the right electrician for your commercial or domestic use is often down to common sense. Try and find out if they have the necessary qualifications before hiring them, and if possible only use people who come recommended.
